Toronto's Soundtrack Recordings continues to make a solid name for itself on the global deep house scene with the release of "Mourning" from the label's proprietor Phil Marwood. Marwood has been active in his upward climb as his last single "Stay," a collaboration with vocalist Kellylee Evans, garnered huge support from the likes of Quentin Harris, Scott Wozniak, and Master Kev. Marwood is gearing up for Winter Music Conference 2011 with a showcase gig alongside Wozniak, Yass, and Beppe Gioia and further promotion of his label. It's certain that "Mourning" will be heard at this party and elsewhere under the sun ... it's a track suited for upfront WMC action.

"Mourning" was inspired by African tribal sounds with its expressive percussion in the forefront of the mix. A mysterious sung vocal chant emanates from far off, as if the listener stumbled upon some sort of ritualist dance gathering. The effect is hypnotic and rousing, with rolling rhythms and an insistent, driving bass line leading the way. An instrumental has also been provided giving the DJ additional incentive to lead his or her own late night dance gathering. Prime after hours pressure ... this new offering from Phil Marwood and Soundtrack Recordings is not to be missed.

Justin Shaw (The London Street Wankers) has proven to our friends south of the boarder that he knows what it means to throw a slammin' party with just the right vibe. In 1 year he's managed to take "The Movement" known as STUDIO+ from a small idea at a run down warehouse to one of Toronto's most in-demand spots for local DJ's to shine. Miami has recognized his creative marketing, warmth and maturity as well as his alliance with Soundtrack Recordings producer Phil Marwood and have opened their doors to him for the event of the year!
The famous Segafredo's Cafe where Black Coffee tore it up last year (check youtube) will play host to LONDON STREET WANKERS, PHIL MARWOOD, ROLAND GONZALES and .......and ....and.....oooh I want to tell you but I can't!!! Check back soon for the full line-up:)

A look back at SR in 2010 & what's coming from the camp in 2011

This past year was fantastic! Many new developments in the SR camp, from new artist signings, track releases and great industry connections that have inspired the music.

Here's a brief wrap of Twenty-Ten

Producer Phil Marwood head of Soundtrack Recordings released a few choice tracks this year: Deep Chill, Stay featuring Kellylee Evans, Did You Miss Me, and of course Studio+ which was a free release as SR's gift to it's home town.

Soundtrack Recordings is also very pleased to have partnered with a powerhouse vocalist in Sandra Chibuluzo who's debut to the house scene can be found on the Studio+ track. The duo is back in the lab working on upcoming projects for 2011 and will also be performing live at the end of January with local heavy weights Nick Holder (DNH) and Adam Fairhurst (deepMada). Stay tuned for more details.

& last but not least in our Twenty-Ten wrap up is the meeting of label boss Phil Marwood with local up and coming Dj The London Street Wankers. The two met at LSW's resident weekly event Studio+ back in January of 2010 and the event concept inspired Marwood to write the Studio+ track and release it as a free download. Heading into 2011 Marwood has signed LSW to SR and you can be sure the two will be making some waves this year.
